GodivaWorldly Sights, Signs, and Structures!

As I was going through my pictures – a habit of mine from time to time when I’m daydreaming or planning, or organizing or reminiscing or really just because – I noticed something that I found quite interesting.  Now granted what’s interesting to me may NOT be interesting to others but I figured I’d share anyways!  R A N D O M  S I G N S!!!

Now I’ll be the first to admit that I have missed some pretty cool photo ops for a sundries of reasons to include trying to take in EVERYTHING around me – visually – and being slow with my camera button.  Nevertheless, I have managed to amass a rather random collection of signs from around the world.  What signs you ask?  Well everything from touristy shots to some “oh that’s interesting” photos (one with a clear mispelling in Taiwan).

Travel with me.

Each of those adventures above were some really good times but collectively???  If I never go anywhere else I will be happy resting on the memories from those journeys.

Barbados was a really cool experience for a number of reasons.  1.  It was a celebration for a dear friend celebrating a milestone birthday.  2.  It’s the location for my very first Ziplining Adventure.  3.  It was the first part of an amazing 7 part journey that started in Puerto Rico.

The SKY dive Georgia was such an amazing adventure.  I talked alot of trash but really I was a teeny tiny bit scared yet excited all rolled up in one.

Not all my sights and signs feature me so check out these random sights and signts.

By far one of the funniest things I’ve seen while traveling has to be this sign in the airport in Taiwan that totally left me in stitches.

“PLEACE” enjoy this final installment in my “Sights, Signs, and Structures” post LOL.

As for the Krispy Kreme in Tokyo…….with “Hot Sign” on…….*hearts afire*!!!  I was literally just wandering the streets of Tokyo and spotted the familiar glow of the “Hot Sign” and took off in a sprint.  I was OVERJOYED!!!

Not sure how many other travelers are as cheesy but hopefully I’ve inspired others to look at the randomness around them for inspiration and conversation pieces.  Who knew these random photo ops would bring such entertainment??!!

Travels Gone by, Wanderlusting & Musings

Monday Musings of Travels Past, Present, and Future

Been awhile since I posted last but as I sit here during a rather dreary and gloomy weather period in Atlanta my mind is on a constant tour of travels past.  I’d say “Calgon, take me away” but I know good and darn well I’d rather “Delta” take me away lol to somewhere resembling something like this…….

It’s been a busy few months full of new and exciting things but nothing involving my passport, a cocktail, and a 2-piece together.  In the words of one the lyrics from one of my favorite songs, “A change is gonna come…..” and soon and very soon.  For now though I can and WILL revel in the warm and fuzzies of my travels past.

Whilst some people dream of fame and fortune but I dream of new destinations to explore; new adventures to partake in.  Right now, at this moment, I have several in mind and if you know like I know then you know it’s just a a matter of time before I pop up somewhere…..as long as somewhere resembles this…….

Oh the beauty of this world.  I’ll never understand the mind that questions WHY anyone would want to travel to foreign lands,  notso distant worlds…..with all the beauty around us why NOT?

I’m not sure WHERE my next adventure will take me but wheresonever it may be it will be nothing if it doesn’t make me warm and fuzzy inside.

So until next time, next journey, next inspiration, I will let my mind wander to the far corners of the world until the rest of me follows.

Travel on!!

What’s in a name in St. Lucia

A few months ago during an “Island Hopping Milestone Birthday celebration” for a good friend of mine, we stopped on the beautiful island St. Lucia.   The extent of our shenanigans and comedy show-worthy antics needed to be televised because it was a day of never-ending laughs.

Wandering Wednesday (In my mind)

Sitting here looking out my window dreaming of a distant land (most likely land surrounded by deep blue seas and sand however, beggars can’t be choosy – as my mom would always say), whilst pondering my next journey.  If only I could close my eyes and POOF find myself traipsing hither and fro, but where would I go?

Well I was looking around on TripAdvisor after receiving the email from them stating my last review was a hit (don’t they always say that or should I feel special?) and voila I come across…..

Magic Monday – Live to Dream….Dream to Live!!!

“The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” ~ Samuel Johnson

dreams to life To dream is a splendid thing, but what good is dreaming if you don’t throw all you’ve got to make those dreams a reality?  This applies to everything in life (to include travel since this is a travel diary of sorts).

Too often we talk about what we would like to see, do, be but fail forget to apply action behind it. Talk is just talk, empty words for without ACTing there is no ACTION!  Now who wants a life of NO action?

I am often asked about my travels either from the perspective of how I choose one destination over another to how do choose accommodations without ever seeing a place in person.

I can honestly say, 99.99999% of most things in my life that have come to fruition all started with a dream, a vision, or desire of sorts.  My borderline Type-A, can do, 100% Capricorn mind takes over from there until voila, my dreams become reality in living color.

“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”  Robert Louis Stevenson

So for the sake of it being the first Monday in May of 2015, let’s make today “MAGIC MONDAY” in that you think of, write down, text to yourself, or otherwise find an image of a place you’d love to visit and pretend you have a magic wand to step outside of yourself so you can visually see yourself in that place; the sights, the sounds, what you’re feeling.  If you’re serious and completely in the moment of this post, your dedication to dreaming in color then you will be reminded of this post and hopefully encouraged to begin planning for your ‘dream’ destination.

Magic Monday Challenge:  If money nor time were an object, WHERE would you go?

Where I’ve Stayed, Played, and Layed

*PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT*

Read this post at your own risk as insane envy may arise although it is NOT the intended purpose :-).

DSCF5186

The joy (for me) is in the journey but I admit a small part of me marvels at the places I’ve stayed over the course of my travels (both business and pleasure).  So in the spirit of “lists” and in no particular order might I add, here are some of my favorite accommodations of which I’ve had the pleasure experiencing…..

  • The Mandarin Oriental Tokyo
  • Hotel Sofitel Munich Bayerpost (during my trip to Oktoberfest – see My European Adventure)
  • Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam
  • Four Seasons in San Francisco (it was for business but still….it was AMAZING)
  • Maya Villa/Condos in Playa del Carmen, Mexico (2 story 3 bdrm, 3 bath, living/dining room/kitchen and balcony.  I still have to write the post so more to come)
  • Mahagiri Villas & Spa Dreamland, Bali (3 bedroom, 3 bath, living/dining room/kitchen, private pool/cabana all approx 3000 sq ft – stayed during my birthday celebration in 2014)
  • Barcelo Bavaro Adults Only Resorts Punta Cana DR
  • Ritz Carlton, Charlotte NC
  • The Adolphus, Dallas TX
  • The Fairmont, Seattle WA
  • Sutton Place, Chicago IL
  • The Millenium Hilton – World Trade Center, NYC (before the Twin Towers were constructed, actually during the rebuilding)
  • Protea Hotel Victoria Junction Waterfront, Capetown South Africa
  • The Venetian, Las Vegas NV
  • Dreams Cancun (my balcony overlooked the dolphin school.  This is now a different property now I believe)
  • Hyatt Regency Curacao Old Quarry Golf Course (I think it has changed its name since my stay in 2011)

My memory is giving me a run for my money at the moment so I will stop there while you salivate lol!

Where have you stayed that either gave you excellent service or accommodations that blew you away?

Travel…..for the stories alone!

travel diaries

Yeah I have stories about catching a great deal on a pair of Sergios or the time my fire alarm was going off while I was in the shower and my reaction seeing flames under the dryer.  Those are just snippets from my memory of some pretty interesting conversation starters.  However, there are no better stories than those from my travel diary.

To daydream about a destination or adventure or journey and then find yourself there in living color is a feeling like no other.  The stories, the sights and sounds can only be experienced by traveling – firsthand.  So what are you waiting on?

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta
